According to Joe Montes, president, “Many people would be surprised if they knew how many desperate sellers have been scammed out of their property. Some even write to us seeking advice as to how they can recover their property from a buyer who insists it was ‘never received’ or ‘lost in the mail’. Here’s a typical example of one such e-mail request we received on May 8th. The sender’s name has been deleted for privacy purposes”:
In Jan”10″ I sent for a C4G package and sent it off on Feb 17 and my package made it to Florida but not to the factory. To this date, it still has not been found. I have done all the necessary paper work to find this package and not one person from C4G company has called me since March 3rd. Not only did I put my gold and diamonds in this package, but a photo copy of all the contents and have given copies to the Postal Service. I called C4G 5-7-10 and talked to a very rude man who gave me no information what so ever on to what or what not is being done. I also contacted the Postal Services and had not even received my search request from that had been turned in at the local office on 3-30. What should I do now? Or should I just kiss my jewels goodbye?
==============================
- There are some things a new seller can do to prevent being in this lady’s unfortunate position. These include, in priority order:
- Check out any company you are considering for ‘unresolved complaints’ with the BBB.
- Check further by entering the company’s name followed by <Company Name-complaints> into your browser and search a few websites that record such things.
- Be certain that the company’s mailing envelopes are pre-insured for a reasonable amount. $100.00 is not enough protection.
- Play it safe! If you believe that the total number of items you are sending-in exceed the insurance coverage, buy some additional coverage of your own and also send it “Return Receipt Requested” so you will have proof of delivery. The cost of doing this is low compared to the risk of not doing so.
